Automated backups to .Mac

  • Subject: Automated backups to .Mac

Hi Users,

.Mac's Backup utility requires that the computer be awake and the user logged in. Is it feasible to perform unattended backups to .Mac with no user logged in and the computer asleep? I have in mind creating some kind of script that would be run with root privileges in the middle of the night, presumably started by launchd. I assume that it would have to log in to the .Mac account (thereby transmitting a password unless file transfers were to the .Mac Public folder). Please point me toward any existing documentation/comments.

Thanks, Bob.
