Or use this very useful Export Selection to PDF script at <http://www.automatication.com/selection-to-pdf-script.html>. From there, you can convert as you like. Or stop it midstream, after it has created a new InDesign file containing the selected objects, and then use Export to JPEG.
There is also a useful Layout Zone script at <http://www.automatication.com/layout-zones-script.html> that converts selected elements to a place InDesign document, and has the capability to release placed InDesign documents back into editable objects.
Both are free.
