If you mean by "manual export," File->Save/Send Records as->Excel, then I don't see a problem here. I just tried it with ~10000 characters and it was fine. FMP 9.0v3, OSX 10.5.4, G5 Mac. (oh, and Office 2008)

You might try asking this question on one of the FileMaker lists. For example: email@hidden
