Get path to app without launching it

  • Subject: Get path to app without launching it

Is there any way to get the path to an application in AppleScript without launching it?

The following one-liner:

set targetAppPath to path to application "Safari"

gives the right answer but will LAUNCH Safari if it is not running. I don't want the target app to launch.

Jerry
