osadecompile misfires with 2 Apple supplied scripts

  • Subject: osadecompile misfires with 2 Apple supplied scripts

After following a discussion a while back on osadecompile, I thought it might be the perfect tool to store, in a searchable FMP database, the many example scripts I have collected in the last few months. To do this I put together a script to locate all scripts in a selected folder and read them into FileMaker.

I'm on a G5 with 10.5.4. Osadecompile works perfectly except for two Apple example scripts where it returns only the first character of the script. Script Editor has no problem with these. The scripts are:

Import Addresses.scpt

Display All Accounts And Preferences.scpt

I don't know enough to know if this is a clue, but when I drag, from Script Editor, a clipping of the first two lines of the offending script onto the desktop the clipping is named "(*--I-m-p-o-r-t- -A-d-d- r-e-"

Other Apple examples have normal looking clipping names when I do that.

Does anyone know what's going on? The command I'm using is:

set theScript to do shell script "/usr/bin/osadecompile " & qfPoxPath

as it steps through a list of scripts.

Thanks

Joe
