Security, both for Apple and users is becoming a major bother. I
really hope someone can see a way to make code signing easy and
cheap so we don't have to ok every little tidbit downloaded from the
internet.
There's a recent article in MacTech magazine
"Code Signing - Get Used to It!", page 36, November 2008
which contains the following ominous line: "Certificate Authorities
charge a few hundred dollars per year for code signing certificates."
Suppose I write a small application that's useful, but not something
I'm going to distribute as shareware. So ... it becomes freeware. But
only if I can certificate it without cost.
Are there alternatives to a purchased certificate? Or does freeware die?
