On 12/15/08 at 8:49 PM, Ed Stockly <email@hidden> spake thusly:
This sounds like a job for the "giving up" parameter as found in display dialog and other UI commands.
choose file x giving up after 20 seconds
The result would indicate either a file chosen by the user, an
error (cancel) or gave up, and the script could handle each of
those eventualities.
I agree, that could be useful.
Thanks Ed, that's exactly what I'm looking for.

The Sufis advise us to speak only after our words have managed
to pass through three gates. At the first gate, we ask
ouselves, 'Are these words true?' If so, we let them pass on;
if not, back they go. At the second gate, we ask, 'Are they
necessary?' At the last gate, we ask, 'Are they kind?'
