What I'm asking is: Why is it important, exactly? Which aspect of the
behavior of ‘display alert’ is necessary for the correct operation of
your script? Is it that the dialog is displayed in front? Is it that
the dialog prevents user interaction with the target application of a
tell even when that's not the application running the script?
