It's better if we can examine scripts and understand what will and what won't break them.

It's more difficult to predict what will break scripts when they have addition commands inside ‘tell application’ blocks.

It's unfortunate that scripting additions and tell blocks interact this way, but it's what we have to work with.

It's fortunate that the best practices that make it easier for us to determine what changes will and won't break scripts also make scripts better for other reasons.
