Standard behavior is to begin processing files with a limit of
about 5 min. Alternate behavior is to allow file processing for
about an hour, if the user has the files and the time.
Why don't you simply show an additional button for the alternat
behaviour?
display dialog "Some text" buttons {"Cancel", "1hour","5min"}
There's a three button limit. And I've already used all three. I would
also like to keep this feature somewhat hidden, except to those who
really need it and who read the instructions. It's not nice to
surprise a user by taking away a necessity (Mail) for an hour or more.
I've solved the problem (I hope) by asking the user to first open a
particular folder, which causes a second dialog (after the first)
asking "Are you sure ...", then closes the particular folder until
next time.
