Changing default mail app with applescript

I need to set the default application for email from Apple Mail to Entourage

I have a script that does a 'do shell script' that manipulates the

com.apple.LaunchServices.plist

and replaces the entry for apple mail with entourage

this is what 'seems' to happen when you change the default mail
app within Apple Mail.

BUT!

even though it looks identical to manual change via Mail App,
a 'mailto:' will still invoke Apple Mail.

I have deleted the cache file too!

Any thoughts, its a real pain, but i have to get this done SOMEHOW!
