It's unlikely your automatic bug report is being investigated.

Those automated reports are used to help track down widespread problems and, believe it or not, it doesn't seem like anyone else is experiencing Script Editor crashes.

I suggest you look for AppleScript and script editor preference files and trash them and reboot the mac and see if that helps.

You may also use disk utility to repair permissions.

Those are my "usual suspects".

Maybe others have ways to fix script editor when it frequently and consistently crashes.

Do you have any way of knowing whether this bug report actually made it through to somebody who can confirm whether or not it is a real bug or just a function of my setup? It's hard to believe that nobody on the mailing list has confirmed my findings.

H.

I submitted a crash report through the utility that is built into the Script Editor. However here are some details:

Definition of "crash".... it quits with an error message. It is all scripts and all windows, even empty script windows. It impacts only Script editor. It appears to initiate some activity on the DVD drive (there is a sound like it makes when a disk is being ejected.

Here is what I sent (closing an empty Script Editor window when it was the only window open).

Under OSX 10.5.2 (newly installed), Applescript crashes when I close a script window (open in Script Editor). The crashes occur whether closing the window using "button 1" or using "CMD W"
