The command "path to desktop" will return the Desktop folder of the
current user.

What do you mean you want the line of code to work for any file in the
"prints" folder?  Do you want to go through all the files in the
prints folder and run your script on each of them?  Do you want to
pick one at random?  Do you intend there to only ever be one file in
that folder at a time? If so, how do you ensure that?
