Hmm.
Calling that "smart", without any quotes or other decipherable sarcasm,
suggests that you approve of AS hiding something from the user. ;)
I would have expected your footnote to read more like:
"However, iTunes is 'smart' enough that..., which is a real shame on
AppleScript for being flexible in what the user can provide and for silently
doing something for the user which is not explicit to the user. That's one
of the reasons that AppleScript sucks so badly."
