Application not responding

  • Subject: Application not responding

I have a script that cycles through a list of Safari web pages, displaying each page for 30 seconds.

Since the web pages are often filled with ads, animation and unreliable content, there are frequent freezes and crashes.

Thanks to help on this list I have been able work around most problems, restarting Safari after quits and most freezes.

But, I have one last issue that has me stumped. Everyone once in a while the system locks on a web page. The safari icon in the doc indicates the application isn't responding and the applet's icon also indicates the application isn't responding.

If I force quit Safari, the appleScript picks up right where it left off and restarts safari and goes about its business.

So, I have two questions.

First how can I determine if an application or an AppleScript applet needs a Force quit.

And, if I try to solve this via a second, helper applet, how can I distinguish between applescript applet processes via System Events or Finder?
