But why is it that my terminal always "hits" me with a bunch of
errors/warnings when I use osascript:

The clue is on the 16th line -- it's LCC Scroll Enhancer causing (even
more) trouble. [1] A quick Google search indicates that SteerMouse <http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/drivers/steermouse.html
> is a viable replacement.

[1] LCC Scroll Enhancer was responsible for a number of crashes when
running Leopard.
