OK, noted, thanks. I see in these tech notes you are right:

However, that has nothing to do with this problem -- just something
unneeded.

Now this part I have no idea what to make of. I don't see how there is any
opportunity to trap anything in the shell -- AS takes over and tries to ask
for authentication on its own. Can you explain?
