True, but this is a special case where I can get away with rm. My
script makes a picture file the bg picture of its parent folder and
places the file in an invisible subfolder named "background". The
reason I duplicate (not move) the file out of "background" is so I CAN
rm the "background" folder without destroying the picture.

The moment the background picture file disappears, the folder
background goes to white.
(And, if you try to use Trash & Empty, you will find that the
picture file is in use. You have to use 'rm'.)
I don't understand what means:

If the picture is used for several items, it seems that removing it
would be dangerous.
Isn't a way to get rid of the background removing the ".DS_Store"
file ?
