Thanks Peter,
It's good to know that it was even looked at. We got together with our management software vendor and they proposed one method that was not practical if the user was logged on. Rather we just searched for the FileVaultMaster.cer which is not an absolute method since the user could have had FV enabled at one point and not any longer but it was more feasible that looking for the .sparsebundle file which would not be present if the user was logged-in.

We wound up with:

if exists file "FileVaultMaster.cer" of folder "/Library/Keychains" then true else false

Thanks for answering and I apologize for the sarcasm.

I don't know about the others Frederick, but I did not answer your question because I avoid FileVault at all costs as it has caused quite a few problems on our network, and I know nothing about the AS of it as a result.  We always try to help where our comments may be useful.

We found a method of determining whether filevault was enabled on an any networked Mac and have put in place in our Management Console.

I just wanted to thank all of the people that assisted from this list…none.

Music creates order out of chaos: for rhythm imposes unanimity upon the divergent, melody imposes continuity upon the disjointed, and harmony imposes compatibility upon the incongruous.
