This sounds more like something suited to JavaScript in Acrobat -- search Adobe's web site for details.

You could start here:

A friend asked me to help figure something out, mainly to see if its possible.

He's tasked with monthly marking up a .pdf newsletter from a local autism
support group, turning the links to a preferred blue color and creating
'mailto:' links over all the email addresses. Its a volunteer position.
He's got Acrobat Professional 6.something. The file originally comes from
a PC-user printing to a PDF driver (CutePDF, or something like that).
He uses the Advanced tool in Acrobat of automatically making links from
most of the URLs in the document, but it only works if they are very well
formed (include the http:// in front, etc.) and it doesn't do anything with
email addresses.
I'd like to help him even if its with a smattering of single-purpose
tools like 'turn the selected text blue' or 'turn the selection into a
mailto: link'.... Better yet I hope to make a single selection handle a
lot of it at once.
Anyway, I'm not a novice at programming, but very rusty on applescript.
I sure could use a kick start. Have any of you done anything remotely
similar with Acrobat? I'd appreciate some pointers or links to
appropriate references. I searched the archives of this list and didn't
come up with anything substantial. Would I do better on the Adobe forums?
Thanks very much in advance.
