I'm pretty ignorant of Javascript/ES, etc., so forgive me if I'm missing something. But the major benefit of Applescript to many people that use it is its ability to handle cross-application processes easily. Does similar capability exist with JS or ES?

The cynic in me suspects they want to drop platform scripting, but I try to fight that feeling despite the fact that supporting only JavaScript/ExtendScript would be simpler.
