I think it would be pretty hard for even Adobe to ignore the huge
number of people and companies using Applescript with Filemaker alone.

Only if the applications themselves support the Adobe model, which
includes a
JS/ES script server in each application for talking to other
processes.
Which is really all Adobe would care about. With every iteration, it's
pretty obvious that they expect you to only ever use their stuff, and
nothing else on any computer you run it on. Windows/Mac OS X, the OS
is a
serious inconvenience for them.
