Unlock Print & Fax PrefPan

  • Subject: Unlock Print & Fax PrefPan

I am writing an AppleScript application to install printers using the terminal command lpadmin. When I run this script when the Print and Fax Preference Pane is locked, I am asked for my password for each printer that I am trying to install (the maximum number that can be selected is about 30). I was hoping to find a way to check if the Print and Fax pane is locked, unlock it if it is, and re-lock it after I run my installation script to revert it back to the way it was previously.
I currently use the "System Events" to turn off whether I get asked for a password when unlocking Preference Panes, but that beats around the bush and isn't the most direct method.

Thank you for your help,
-Rob
