I didn't want to complicate the question with the fact that I am displaying the result in an Interface Builder text field, but that would qualify as an Applescript-Studio question. I thought this was more of an applescript question, so I went here first.
For display purposes, how can I get the proper format?
Thanks,
John

I'm trying to convert a string to a number, so that I can use it in an arithmetic function, but there is a problem:
set to "12345.00"
set number
theAmount --> 1.2346E+4
How can I prevent the number from converting to this format?
If you're going to use it in an arithmetic function, what difference does it make how it is displayed?
