Not so; Python/Ruby/ObjC appscript's lower level 'aem' API can deal with FCP just fine. You just need to do a bit of subclassing to change the way that reply events are unpacked. Appscript is designed to be highly customisable, so this isn't hard.


Incidentally, I remember someone writing an FCP wrapper for Python a while back; I could dig up some details if anyone wants to contact them.
