I needed a way for a user to set fontName and fontSize preferences in a script. Many applications have a font dialog to do this and they all look very similar. Have I overlooked such a dialog in the StandardAdditions osax? So I looked ... it's not there!

Standard Editions can create plain text files (including tab delimited, lists, records, etc.), but not styled text. If you need to script name and size, you'll have to do it through an application. TextEdit is a good one for this purpose.
