Try using "save" for "export"

save (verb)Save an object. (from Standard Suite)
command syntax
save reference ¬
     as unicode text ¬
     in alias

I searched on "iphoto applescript" but I was only able to find some broken links.
Is there any reference on how to write script to perform iphoto export and import?

The best way to find out is to open the application's dictionary. This goes for any application.

The following is from iPhoto's dictionary:

import v : Import the given path.
import specifier : the object for the command
from text : The path(s) to import.
[force copy integer] : Pass true to ignore advanced preference and always create copy in iPhoto library. Useful if original may be in a temporary directory. Default is true.
[to album] : The album to which to import the object. If none specified, import into main Library.

Curiously, there is no dictionary item for export.
