This will work for me.

tell application "FileMaker Pro"
show (first record of table "BBEditLists" of database "MailingLists.fp7" whose cell "Serial No." is "561")
end tell

Where "Serial No." is a text cell.

Thanks Joe.

The first time I ran equivalent code it worked, albeit very slowly (on already-indexed records). Then I tried it on a different table/ database and got the error I'm getting repeatedly frustrated by: "FileMaker Pro Advanced got an error: Event not handled."

Script Debugger implies that the offending syntax is that FileMaker can't count records. Huh?

I'm still at a loss.

Bill

What happens if you use "every record" instead of "first record" ? While "first" seems to work fine for me on Pro, I can't find "first" as a supported keyword in the Apple Events Reference DB. Perhaps Advanced tightened things up? - just guessing here.
