So I'd be curious as to how come Luther Fuller gets to say it works
perfectly.
I'm tending towards a bug because so far it's 2:1 not working v.s.
working.
Here's a clue:
... my setup (10.5.5 almost stock but not a virgin user)
A virgin user with Developer Tools installed would have Dashcode set
to own the default claim.
So I changed the preferred opening application to Dashcode and
restarted.
Then 'choose file of type {"public.xml"} worked.
NB: .xsd, and .xsl, and .dtd can't seem to get assigned to Dashcode.
Then I changed the preferred opening application back to TextWrangler
and restarted.
Script still worked.
Ok. Maybe a TW glitch or perhaps these files started from a copy of a
plain text file and didn't get re-assigned.
So I think it's a bug. XML, XSD, DTD, and XSL with the standard
extensions are basic XML file types and ought to be recognized as such
by choose file of type {"public.xml"} no matter what.
IMO, there are quite a few Apple XML file types that should be
recognized as well. Like plist, sdef, bridgesupport, etc.
