Title: Re: Two AFP mounted volumes with the same name
Never mind. It looks like one volume is named “UserMailboxes” and the other is “User Mailboxes” with a space between User and Mailboxes. I’m assuming if the names were identical then the Finder would be forced to put a “–1” behind one of them?
I have a script where there could be potentially two AFP mounted volumes with the same name on a user’s desktop, but they were mounted from different servers with different IP addresses. Both volumes are called “UserMailboxes”. The Finder seems capable of differentiating the two volumes without a problem.
If I make an alias out of variables that resolves to “UserMailboxes:testfolder” how do I know which one of the two mounted volumes called “UserMailboxes” I’m going to get? There is the potential that a folder with the same name exists on both volumes. Is there a higher level way of pointing to a specific mounted volume by IP address when both mounted volumes have the same name?
Thanks.
Jim
