If a boolean always returns false when the scripter is expecting true, it's not working.
I don't understand your problem.

Let me reword.

You said:
If (username > 1 and username <10)
wouldn't work, were username a string.

Tim says it works and so do I.

Now you say it always returns false, but it doesn't. For the Strings "2", "3" … "9" it returns true.

So where is your problem in understanding - or show me where mine is.
