2. Your approach seems stupid to me
If you have VarX, and you know how many you have, a simple:
set ListAnimals to {Var1, Var2, Var3, Var4}
will do. I don't see the point in doing it in a loop.
If you don't know how many VarX you will have, you'd better use a list in the first place.
