Funny behavior of UTIs.

In iWork '08 there was a single kind of native documents UTI:

com.apple.iwork.pages.pages

In iWork '09 Apple introduced flat documents to which they give a new UTI:

com.apple.iwork.pages.sffpages

I don't know which is the culprit but, given that,
under Mac OS X 10.4.11, every Pages documents:
old ones created by Pages '08,
packages created by Pages '09,
flat files created by Pages '09
are described by the Finder or System Events as "com.apple.iwork.pages.sffpages".

But, under Mac Os X 10.5.6 every Pages documents:
old ones created by Pages '08,
packages created by Pages '09,
flat files created by Pages '09
are described by the Finder or System Events as "com.apple.iwork.pages.pages".

It's really annoying but there is even more annoying behavior:

Under 10.4.11

choose file of type {"com.apple.iwork.pages.sffpages"} gives access to flat files.
choose file of type {"com.apple.iwork.pages.pages"} gives access to packages

Under 10.5.6

choose file of type {"com.apple.iwork.pages.sffpages"} gives access to flat files.
but
choose file of type {"com.apple.iwork.pages.pages"} gives access to NOTHING.

So, we can't use the filter and we must test the UTI when the item is selected the 'blind' way.

Once again, it appear that in AppleLand, Uniform Type Identifiers are not really Uniform.
