NOTE: AppleScript and iTunes’s scripting support are two separate things. In this case, your complaint is that iTunes won’t let you play a list of tracks without first creating a playlist. This is not a limitation of AppleScript, nor is it AppleScript’s responsibility to provide this. I encourage you to report bugs and enhancement requests for scripting support to the relevant applications using <http://bugreport.apple.com/>.
