First of all, you have to identify the nature of the windows. For instance, the window that contains the list of mailboxes on the left and the list of messages at the top right is a message viewer window. It is not an Inbox window, nor is it a message window.
Additionally, there are some windows that are open, but invisible. They are {"Rules", "Previous Recipients", "Mail Connection Doctor"}
Therefore, when you are addressing windows, you want to specify windows whose visible is true.
Furthermore, "activate" does not apply to windows. I'm surprised that there is no error. "Activate" makes the application the frontmost application, and the rest of that line of code is ignored, but since the application is already the frontmost application, nothing really happens.
