No, this one returns an error. But you're right, mCell11 contains a
string.
I also tried "set vertical alignment of cell 1 of row 1 of table 2 of
active document to align vertical center" but it has no effect as
well...
looks like a bug ..

My guess is that mCell11 is a string so it may be usefull to edit as:
set vertical alignment of cell mCell11 to align vertical center
