Authorizing Track Playback in iTunes?

  • Subject: Authorizing Track Playback in iTunes?

Hi All,

Firstly, does anyone know the difference between "Protected" and "Purchased" mp4 files?

I am trying to write a script that will add files from the main HD music library to an iPod. I get an error when I try to do this, which is due to the files being protected and the computer is not Authorized to use these tracks/files.

So, secondly, Is there anyway to tell from a track if it can be accessed on the computer? I can tell if the file is "Protected" and "Purchased" by looking at the track kind property. But that doesn't tell me if the track can currently be accessed, e.g. added to an iPod in this case.

Thanks in advance
Dave
