Hi Keerthi Perera,
Use the following script:
set passwd to text returned of (display dialog "Enter Password:"
default answer "" with hidden answer)
--Satyam.

Dear Chris,
Thank you for your kindness to help me. I realized that I have not
provided
enough information on the task I intend to perform. I want an
authorized
group of people to have access to a confidential document. So I
wanted to
have a login window where they can insert a username and password
provided
by me. As usually the case in login windows, I wanted to make sure
that
another person does not see the password that is being typed. The
user name
and the password will be then directed to a list to see whether the
person
is among the authorized and whether the password matches the username.
I could do it in two steps, first asking for the username in a dialog
window, and then after making sure that the person is authorized,
to ask for
the password in the next dialog. However, the disadvantage is that the
password is not hidden while being typed. Waiting for your reply.
With Best Wishes!
Keerthi Perera

Can somebody tell me how to insert a login window into a script?
It would help if you could elaborate on what you're trying to
accomplish.
Do you want to display the Login window?
Do you want the user to authenticate to authorize a privileged
operation?
Do you want to ask the user for a user name and password that you will
pass along to something else?
