SIPS Syntax to Embed a Profile

I'm trying to use SIPS (from within an AppleScript) to embed a profile into a JPEG. The pertinent line looks like this:

do shell script "sips -e AdobeRGB1998.icc " & posixInput & " --out " & posixOutput

I've also tried it using a full path to the profile. Neither seems to work. Does anyone know the correct syntax to use?
