True, but I think Apple has gone too far in their localization of API
elements.  It really complicates the sharing of code between users in
different locations when, for instance, the interpretation of a date
literal in Applescript source code depends upon locale settings.

I feel that in general, localization should be reserved for the UI.
Certainly, that can include the programming UI, and I would love for
software development in general to be more accessible to
non-English-speakers.  But it doesn't seem to make sense to localize
bits and pieces of an interface for programming in a language that is
all English-based.

Things get blurry with things like spreadsheet formulas, where there
are end users writing formulas who are definitely not software
developers and certainly shouldn't have to know English to use the
tool.  But there is also no dictionary support in Numbers for
accessing the formula functions, so the fact that function names are
different across locales makes it harder to share Numbers-targeting
Applescript code.
