Sorry folks,
I'm a bit confused. Running Matt's script will eventually come to a halt before reaching the 70,000 mark.
But by then, AppleScript-Editor will use up more than half a GB of memory, and trying to open the event protocol will leave it hanging for ever. So after running the script AppleScript-Editor is very unstable and barely manageable.
So there may be more than an AppleEvent problem, probably some serious memory leak.
All this in 10.6.2, unfortunately.
All the best
Thomas
