Month Names

I've been experimenting with this ...

month of (current date) --> November

Despite changing the language, it always returns the month in English. In fact, the Finder always displays the month in English, without regard for the language setting. (But, I've only tried German.)

Are month names universally in English?
Or, has anyone seen month names displayed in any other language?
