Attach folder action to hidden folder?

Is there any way (in L/SL) to attach a folder action to a folder that
normally doesn't show up in the Finder? Even if I enable the pref to
display them in Finder, they don't show up in file chooser dialogs, so
neither Automator nor the Script Menu let me select them. Thought
there was a way to do it from the Finder but didn't see one...
