According to my friends at Apple, they heard about this bug from Matt's description on Tidbits-Talk and had it fixed by the time he submitted the bug report. Now it's just waiting for QA and the next point release.
Technically, the error & fix also repaired a long standing bug that COULD have happened and can't any more. If you sent an event and the receiver suspended it, the AE manager would eventually reuse that event's reply ID, leading to possible reply/timeout confusion.
That can no longer happen, and next patch neither can the bad reply id which was causing this problem.
