Chris Page was going on about Bookmark data objects in Snow Leopard the other day. This would seem to be one of them. Dang, at this point I wish I'd been listening to him and paying attention. ;)
Maybe we can get him to share some info with us here.
‘bmrk’ is indeed short for “bookmark” and is a “bookmark URL”, new in Snow Leopard. Bookmark URLs provide the robust tracking features of aliases in a form that's supported by CFURLRef and NSURL.
When you create an alias file via Finder in Snow Leopard, it stores both bookmark data and an alias record as before.
Generally, you should be able to use them transparently in scripts without worrying about the exact class of values.
