I solved my problems with the lists through judicious use of
ignoring white space and punctuation
However when I write to file the result looks like this: list \utxt utxt A D A ,utxt S C I 7 B ,utxt S C I 7 G ,utxt S C F 1 0 B ,utxt C H 0 2 2 ,utxt C H 0 3 4 ,utxt utxt A N D ,utxt I P 7 B ,utxt D R A 7 G ,utxt D R A 7 O ,utxt I P 8 B ,utxt A R T 8 O ,utxt A R T 8 R ,utxt A R T 9 B ,utxt 9 0 9 S D ,utxt 9 0 9 C D ,utxt C O M P ,utxt utxt B A P ,utxt M U S 7 B ,utxt M U S 8 B ,utxt M U S 8 G ,utxt M U S 9 A ,utxt S M U 1 0 ,utxt M C 0 1 2 ,utxt M C 0 3 4 ,utxt utxt
instead of this:

as it appears in the result window. What is going on with the "utxt" stuff?
