Yes, as long as you have both installed. But with the full colon path, not posix. And preceded by the term 'application'.

The name of the app (as opposed to the folder it's contained in) does not have "7" in it, right? Or "X". They're both just "QuickTime Player.app", right? (.app is optional). I don't have 10.6 yet so I can't look for myself. If they each have a distinct name, you should not need the full path. If they have the same name, then yes. You never know when it might switch to the other version (after a reboot or something), but that's not reliable.
