Ah, OK. when you said "trend" I assumed you were talking more broadly, because I was never aware that property lists had ever used other than POSIX paths.

<http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/technotes/tn/tn2022.html> is (was?) the main reference. CFURLRefs and NSURLs are interchangeable types.
