Smile might be a solution. See satimage-software.com's site for
information about that.

He ish to print them thru a line-printer.
His exact requirement is:
The question is if you know someone - maybe yourself or someone else
- who knows if it is possible to communicate with a serial port in a
Mac environment. The special purpose printer we use has a rs232
port. With a Windows computer we can send a line of text in unicode
format to that printer and that printer in turn prints the line.
When the line is printed, the printer returns a message to the
Windows computer like " /EOT " and the next line of text is send
from the computer. We would like to use a Mac instead for the same
purpose.
Don't worry about USB and RS232. That side is covered and works. It
is just that we want to use the Mac for file manipulation (your
script) but we have to find a way to get each line of text sent to
the printer.
May we achieve this goal with a piece of Shell scripting ?
