Hagimeno, I run your snippet without modifications, and I don’t found any problem
My Entourage database have thousands of emails and 120 folders it took like a 3 min to finish it;s job
My system is Mac Pro 2.66 Ghz QuadCore, 3GB ram system 10.6.1
Entourage 11.4.0

Entourage 11.4.0 is Entourage 2004. Hagimeno may well have Entourage 2008 (12.x, currently up to 12.2.0).

Entourage 2008 is a Universal app - runs as native on Intel.

Entourage 2004 runs in Rosetta on Intel, as I recall. Does Rosetta even work in Snow Leopard? I guess so, if yours does, but somehow I thought I had read otherwise. (I'm not on SL yet - just gathering information so far before taking the plunge.)
